Pressure Energy Recovery System

Natural Gas Pressure Differential Power Generation And Refrigeration Systems

Natural gas pressure differential power generation and refrigeration technology harnesses the pressure energy of pipeline networks — converting it into electricity while simultaneously producing usable cooling energy. This reduces pressure energy losses, minimises pipeline vibration and noise, and enhances network stability.

The principle is simple: high-pressure natural gas passes through a radial turbo-expander, converting pressure energy into mechanical energy, which drives a generator to produce electricity. No gas is burned. No emissions are produced. Zero-carbon output, from inlet to grid.

From Wasted Pressure to Measurable Value

Electricity

The turbo-expander recovers pressure energy from the pipeline and converts it directly into zero-carbon electricity — no gas burned, no fuel consumed.

Cold Energy

As gas expands, its temperature drops significantly. A heat exchanger captures this cold energy and delivers it to wherever cooling is needed — also zero-carbon.

Carbon Footprint

Pressure energy previously wasted across throttle valves is now converted into electricity and cooling — raising energy efficiency and reducing the enterprise's carbon footprint.

High-pressure natural gas must be throttled down before distribution. Instead of wasting that pressure drop, we convert it into usable energy.

How Pressure Differential Energy Recovery Works

High-pressure natural gas must be throttled down before distribution. Instead of wasting that pressure drop, we convert it into usable energy.

High-Pressure Gas Inlet

Natural gas enters the system at high pressure from transmission pipelines (typically under 10 MPa), carrying unexploited pressure energy that would otherwise be wasted across throttle valves.

Turbo-Expander Generator

A precision turbo-expander converts the pressure drop into shaft rotation, driving a generator to produce clean electricity — zero fuel, zero emissions.

Simultaneous Refrigeration

As the gas expands, the Joule–Thomson effect causes its temperature to drop sharply. High-efficiency heat exchangers capture this cold energy and deliver it as usable cooling for downstream applications — with zero additional energy input.

Low-Pressure Gas Outlet

The outlet low-pressure gas exits at stable pressure and temperature, fully meeting downstream distribution requirements and regulatory standards.
